Kayaking the Central Florida Springs
With a family of four in the tandems we set out to see the wildlife of the St Johns River. The river is at it's seasonal high so we had lots of backwaters to explore. As we approached the spring run the water turned crystal clear and we found ourselves paddling with the fish. There were Longnose Gar, Tilapia, Bream, Bass and several others swimming right under our kayaks. The Kingfishers that are migrating down for the Winter were gathering in the run too. Paddling through Snake Creek we heard a Barred Owl and found him snoozing in the tree canopy... cool stuff. Drifting down the river with a cool breeze blowing and the sun on our shoulders made for a true nirvana moment!
