Kayaking with the Manatees, what a sight this is! January 14, 2016

With the cold nights down into the low 40’s the Manatees were everywhere around Blue Springs and the back waters of the St Johns River today. The friendly creatures are quite curious and came right over to our kayaks to say hello. It’s almost like they were trying to communicate with us. We saw just about every inland water bird there is… from Great Blue to Little Blue Herons to Purple Gallinules and breeding male Anhingas with their green eyes. Green and Tri-colored Herons, White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Black Crowned Night Herons, Bald Eagle, Red-shouldered Hawk and more. It was a true birding hot bed and a lovely day spent with some lovely people!
